Daily build
Should you actually switch?
Work out how long moving to a cheaper tool takes to pay for itself, counting your own team’s hours and not just the vendor’s fee. It will tell you to stay when the numbers say stay.
Verdict
Nothing to compare yet
Put in what you pay now and what the alternative costs. Everything here updates as you type.
Your numbers never leave your browser. There is no server behind this tool, your numbers are never sent anywhere, and nobody sees what you type, including me. The math runs on your machine. Your last set of numbers is saved on this device so you can come back to them, and Clear my numbers removes them.
What it cannot tell you
The math is the easy half
This compares two prices and the cost of moving between them. That is all it does. It does not know whether the new tool is any good, what breaks during the move, how long your team takes to get fast again on the other side, what your current contract says about leaving early, or whether the cheaper vendor puts its price up next year the way this one just did.
A short payback is permission to look harder. It is not a decision. And a long one is worth taking seriously: a switch that needs three years to break even is usually a switch that never gets finished.
The series
One small tool a day
Every build gets a write-up in the Library: what it does, why it exists, what I decided not to put in it, and what it took to make. Free to use, nothing to sign up for.
