Quote Seal

Paste your quote’s line items and get a short code that fingerprints every line and every amount. Put it at the bottom of the quote you send. If the copy that comes back has a number changed, a line added, or a line taken out, the code will not match, and this page will tell you which line moved. Retyping, reformatting, printing, and Word turning it into a PDF all still match.

How this was built, and what it cannot do

Quote sealNothing sealed yet

No quote yet

Paste your quote’s line items below and a seal appears here. Nothing is sent anywhere and nothing is saved.

Paste them in any shape. Tabs out of a spreadsheet, dot leaders out of Word, pipes, bullets, or plain spacing all read the same. There is no format to get right.

What the seal ignores

  • Spacing, tabs, and dot leaders
  • Capital letters
  • Bullets, dashes, pipes, and trailing punctuation
  • Line numbering (1., 2., 3.)
  • Dollar signs, commas in thousands, and a trailing .00
  • Curly quotes Word puts in for you

What breaks the seal

  • Any change to any amount, down to the cent
  • Any change to the wording of a line
  • A line added
  • A line removed
  • Lines put in a different order

A line whose whole label is Total, Subtotal, Balance due, or Amount due is read as a summary of the lines above it. It is still sealed, but it is not added into the total, so a quote that carries its own total does not count it twice.

Amounts are read US style, so 1,200.50 is one thousand two hundred. A number sitting at the end of a line with nothing to mark it as money, like “install 4 outlets 12,” is left unpriced rather than guessed at, and the count of those is printed on the seal.

This proves the numbers match. It does not prove who wrote them, or when. It is a way to settle “that is not the figure I sent you” in ten seconds, not a signature and not a contract.

Everything runs in this browser tab. Nothing you paste is sent anywhere, saved, or rewritten.
